Market situation of Vietnam’s shrimp importing countries


In 2018, Vietnam exported shrimp to 90 markets, down from 92 markets in 2015, with a turnover of 3.150 billion USD, an increase of 6.7% compared to 2015, of which, white leg shrimp accounted for 62.1 %, tiger shrimp accounted for nearly 29.5%, other sea shrimp accounted for 8.3%.

Vietnam ranks third in shrimp production in the world (after China and Indonesia), with an output of 600,000 – 650,000 tons / year, and has exported to nearly 100 countries and territories. Vietnam is now the first large shrimp supplier to Japan, the third to the United States, and the fourth to the EU, and to lead the world’s shrimp suppliers in the world in terms of the number of enterprises certified with BAP 4 stars. Vietnam exports to 10 major markets still have positive growth. Exports to China increased by 24.3%, to the US, EU, Japan and South Korea increased by 7.9%, 9.4%, 2.7% and 13.6% respectively.
